Bring It On!

This is Christina Kinsky's motto for her vigorous chemotherapy schedule and fight against cancer. And that's what The Friendship Paddle and beneficiary team of paddlers will do for Christina when they paddle the Santa Barbara Channel for Christina and her family.

Christina was born in Manila, Philippines, but grew up in Bakersfield. She went to UCSB and then on to NYU for graduate studies to become a high school teacher. She met her husband, Terance, while teaching at an all girl catholic school. They married, moved to Santa Barbara and started a family. "My life is my family! My kids are my world and I am truly blessed" says Christina. She and Terance have three young children entering school age.

She is a marathon runner who joined the SB Running Club and completed both the San Diego Rock 'n' Roll and Fresno Marathons. Her running group, family and friends have been very supportive and giving during this difficult time of diagnosis, surgery and chemotherapy.

Christina has an infectious, positive outlook on life and has motivated many to look at life differently since her diagnosis of colon cancer. She communicates through her blog to hundreds of supporters and her words and inspiration has motivated others to enjoy each day and "hug each other". The Friendship Paddle will Bring It On when they paddle for Christina and her family on October 17. Our boat captains, paddlers and Christina's beneficiary team will be showing them love and support during this difficult time and raise money to help with their increasing medical costs. Christina's incredible energy and positive outlook is enough to beat this and we want to help in the best way we know how. The landing at Chase Palm Park Center just east of the harbor will be a celebration of an amazing person.
